Secrets of the Soul

November 14th, 2008  |  by Alive Mind Education  |  published in Films Q-S, Secrets of the Soul

Secrets of the Soul takes an all encompassing look at the universal belief in the soul. Whether Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim or Native American, all religions claim a divine and eternal essence, a spirit that survives after the physical body dies. From the older tradition of the Native American Vision Quest to mediums who claim to be able to communicate with the dead, this two-hour special explores the beliefs and rituals of the faithful as well as the latest scientific research that investigates the soul’s very existence.

Secrets of the Soul provides a provocative overview of man’s various attempts to answer the age-old question: what happens to our souls when we die? Do we go to heaven… or hell? Are our souls ‘recycled’? Is our next life determined by our actions in this life? Or do we simply cease to exist, Ashes to ashes, dust to dust? Secrets of the Soul explores all of these questions, asking priests, imams, scientists and skeptics about their beliefs.

Reviews

“The DVD Secrets of the Soul was incredible!!! I was taken aback by the sensitivity used to film the program and how historical it was. I learned so much watching it and it made me reflect deeper also on my own as well as other’s souls. The section most dear to me was the Near Death experiences. I felt validated by the woman’s story. Thank you for sharing this DVD with me. ”
-Mary Jo Rapini

“A DVD that is an artistic triumph. It combines and contrasts various points of view in an entertaining and instructive way. I hope that the resulting DVD reaches many, many people and that it encourages them to engage in reflective thought as well as active questing in both their internal and external worlds.”

Much of the entertaining Hippie Masala consists of charming reminiscences from the quirky quartet (as well as a pair of voluble South African twins who’ve also taken up residence in India), backed by footage of their day-to-day lives. Recommended.

Some believers will no doubt refuse to watch these conversations, while others may feel that their faith can only be strengthened by confronting the strongest arguments against it—and The Atheism Tapes definitely delivers the latter. Highly recommended.
